AI & Market Power Fellow, European AI & Society Fund
Jim Thomas is an independent civil society researcher, writer, and advocate. He has three decades of global experience addressing the impact of emerging technologies and corporate power on social justice, food systems, biodiversity, and governance. Jim is currently an AI & Market Power Fellow with the European AI & Society Fund exploring the implications of generative biology, or the use of Ai for genetic engineering. He has served for over a decade on the Ad Hoc Technical Expert Group on Synthetic Biology of the UN Biodiversity Convention, and helped convene civil society networks addressing various technology justice issues–including the North American Digital Ag Working Group and the Tech Critics Network.
